ABOUT
Get Involved
Our organization consists of three main groups — Advocates, Medical Advisors and Partners — each with an important role:

Advocates
Advocates are any individuals who strongly support the goals of Families Fighting Flu, which include increasing awareness about the seriousness of influenza, increasing annual vaccination rates among children and their families, and reducing the number of hospitalizations and deaths caused by the disease each year. Advocates may also include families whose children have suffered serious medical complications or died due to influenza, in addition to the extended family, friends, teachers, doctors, or community members of such families.

Medical Advisors
Medical Advisors include pediatricians, family practitioners, researchers, and nurses with a special interest or focus on influenza. Medical Advisors provide guidance and insight on the latest research and findings in the fight against influenza. See our current Medical Advisors.

Partners
Partners include other non-profit organizations, corporations, medical facilities, and health departments that share common goals with Families Fighting Flu: increasing awareness about the seriousness of influenza, increasing annual vaccination rates among children and their families, and reducing the number of hospitalizations and deaths caused by the disease each year.

"Our lives have been devastated. We struggle to get through each day without our precious Amanda. There is nothing more we can do for our daughter, but we feel it is our responsibility to raise awareness about the risks of the flu. If we can help prevent a single death and spare a single family from going through this, we will consider our efforts a success."
ALISSA KANOWITZ,
Mother of Amanda, who died from influenza on March 1, 2004
